In a significant shift in approach, iOS 17 will include the "most desired features" for iPhone enthusiasts.

We've been assuming for the past few months that the upcoming iOS update would be heavy on performance and bug fixes and light on new features.

But according to a recent story, that might not be the case, and iOS 17 might actually be the most thrilling update in years.

Apple has changed from its initial plan for iOS 17, which was initially "focused more on fixing bugs and improving performance rather than adding new features," according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in the most recent edition of his Power On newsletter. He claims that now that Apple is adding new features, iOS 17 will reportedly have "a number of great features" when it launches this autumn.

It does not specify what these features are, but it does state that iPhone owners consider them to be among the "most requested features." Multiple users, custom icons, multiple timers, multitasking, separate volume controls for media and calls, and so on are features we've wanted for years, but according to Gorman, iOS 17 "lacks a wire optimization," like last year's edition lock screen.
However, it's still a fascinating concept that makes the delay for iOS 17 even more challenging. Apple will unveil the upcoming version of iOS at its keynote WWDC conference in June before its full release this autumn, though the company hasn't yet made any official announcements regarding release dates. Gorman declined to comment on whether iPadOS The same approach will be used by 17 and macOS 14, which will make its premiere at WWDC.
